So I’ve been living for this peppermint mocha lately.
Just something about having this during the holidays that really helps me get into the Christmas spirit.
Years ago, I used to run to starbucks for the PSL and the peppermint mocha as soon as they were released. Some weeks, I would have one every single day.
And then I came to my senses and realized how much crap goes into these.
It was a depressing moment but it forced me to get creative and make my own. It also helped save me some monayyy.
♥ 1/2 cup coconut cream
♥ 1 TBSP cacao powder
♥ 1 TSP cinnamon
♥ 1 TSP pure maple syrup (add more if needed)
♥ 1-2 drops of peppermint EO or a dash of peppermint extract (If using peppermint EO, PLEASE do your due diligence here and make sure it is a brand that is safe to ingest. SO important!)
♥ 1 cup brewed coffee
Throw everything together in a saucepan over low heat and stir until combined. THAT. EASY.
I like to start small with the maple syrup because the combination of the cinnamon and coconut cream help sweeten the drink up. But I also don’t love super sweet drinks so if you do, then add more maple syrups:)
I LOVE using the Doterra peppermint oil because I know that it is 100% pure and it has so many amazing health benefits! It promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing, promotes digestive health, freshens the breath and awakens the soul. Whenever I’m feeling tired at work, I rub some on the back of my neck and it re-energizes me. I also love to apply a bit to my temples when I get a headache.
Do you have any coffee drinks you love to make? Or healthy hacks to any of the other starbucks drinks? Let me know because I would love to try them!
